From my front hall to yours … Happy Halloween! I’ve made the lasagna, charged my camera battery, and eaten my first candy. The girls will be home from school soon and we’ll start carving the pumpkins and roasting the seeds. Family will begin to arrive and the girls will start asking, “Is it time to put on our costumes?”
I hope your Halloween is fun and safe — especially if you’re an East Coaster.
Just a bit of “use what you have” inspiration for you you today. This weekend, I took elements from our Halloween parties to decorate the two fireplace mantels in our home.
In the family room, I created a trick or treat mantel, featuring a printable banner from Squared Party Printables and Halloween stockings from Designs by Nancy.
I’ve always wanted to make a black Halloween wreath, but I have a black front door, so it wouldn’t show up. But my Halloween canvas gives me the perfect backdrop. And, it made me think that if I could create a flexible canvas background for Halloween decor, that I also could make a Halloween wreath base that could be dressed up in a variety of ways.

Saturday evening, the girls and I did a little experimenting in the kitchen. I had a recipe inspiration and it turned out really well. I took the cookies to a meeting at Collective CoOp on Sunday and I was pleased to find they were a hit. (People took home extras!) So yummy with a cup of coffee.
