Once upon a time, there was a birthday party blogger with a new idea for making s’mores. Her first attempt was yummy, but it was too messy. Her second try required an ingredient that doesn’t actually exist. But on the third try, Google came to the rescue and the recipe was just right.

I know for sure that I love making parties for children. Your kids, my kids — whomever. It just makes me happy to delight children.
I love collaborating with moms. It’s always a blast to see what ideas they already have, and how excited they are about planning for their child’s birthday. When I can add something that makes the planning easier for them, or that captures the essence of an idea they couldn’t articulate, it’s been a good day.
In 1944, just shortly before Christmas, my father’s parents received a telegram that their son, Lt. George Clifton Myers, was missing in action. He was my father’s older brother, and later my brother was named for him.

This past weekend was my college reunion and it was such a blast to see everyone again! Some of the ladies (I went to a women’s college) I still see regularly, but for others it had been 20 years. Our campus was even more beautiful and I was so proud to introduce my girls to it.
This is one of those slap your forehead and say “Doh!” moments. I like to find new ways to dress up my ribbon cake stand. But, the cake stand is really made to accommodate half-inch ribbon. If I want a fuller bow, I need a wider ribbon, and those are difficult to thread.
So I was brushing my teeth last night and it finally occurred to me that Scotch tape would solve this problem. Really? I couldn’t have thought of that a year ago? Gee whiz.
